INTERVIEW WITH NIGERIA CELEBRITY FASHION DESIGNER – IFUNANYA IGBOBI

What sparked your interest in fashion?

Fashion is my speck have always loved fashion right from the onset.

What made you take fashion more seriously and make a career out of it?

Fashion rules my world! I love what I do. I don’t really see it as something am taking so serious because making my customer look good always is a serious business for me.

Are you self taught or you study fashion design?

Both I guess!

How has your work evolved since you began your own label?

It’s been fantastic. Though not easy . .. The sleepless nights trying to create designs, always putting your customers as your outmost priority because making them look good is very important to weckx design intl.

What was your biggest fear when starting your own label?

My fear! Was facing the world at large. It’s a delima but it’s some feeling I got over six months after my unveiling.

What are the challenges being a fashion designer in Nigeria?

One of my greatest challenge is the inflation and deflation of products. You can never tell which prizes such materials would cost a day to the next day. No fixed prices. It makes it sometimes uneasy to deliver.

What is your favorite part about being a designer?

Its the feeling I love what I do!  Most times I get late night calls in regards to your jobs.  Am use to the compliment but still i feel I’ve so much am yet to do, so much that weckx design intl has got to offer.

Do you model your clothes or you hire models?

Both. But I’ve more of my models modeling my clothing line more.

How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?

Confident! The strength of a woman lies in her confident and if u feel beautiful at all time then swiftly u are a confident woman !  Our confident woman.  Our lovers of weckx design intl.

Where do you see your label in the next five years?

Five years is a long time, I’ve quite number of projects am working on and if everything goes perfectly as planned then five years is too much of a long time.

What advice would you give to aspiring designers?

To keep their dreams burning don’t let anything discouraged you. You can do it, it’s just a matter of time!

What would you like to achieve before the end of the year?

My achievements is to put a lot of smiles in over two thousand faces. Regardless of age, Indigence, and tribe etc.
