Enyinna Nwigwe Is The Coolest Nollywood Star Right Now

Enyinna Nwigwe is the best friend you wish you had, and we think he is the coolest Nollywood actor right now. Here’s why.

With well-defined eyes, a baritone voice, a finely chiselled face that stops you in your tracks and a perfectly sculpted body, Enyinna Nwigwe stands tall at some 6 feet 2 inches at least.

This is not all that makes the good-natured young man striking, though. He exudes a rather cool, calm and confident demeanour that you cannot help but notice if you are meeting him for the first time.

But nothing would strike you more forcibly than his amiable personality which jumps out at you as soon as you cross paths with him.

is passion for acting, which continues to fuel his over a decade-long career in the Nigerian film industry, is unrivalled and he is spurred on by the respect he has for his profession.

“I think life is an expression of art and art is an expression of life. That’s the way I see it and that drives me as an actor,” Nwigwe reveals in an interview.

Bitten by the Acting Bug

The actor, who started modelling during his university days, however, insists that he did not set out to be an actor.

“It (acting) was coincidental for me. I didn’t set out to act the first time I was on a film set,” admits Nwigwe in another interview.

The native of Imo State, who ensures that he connects to a character before taking on an acting role, continues: “I went to visit a director that I had become friends with and he just kinda threw me into a particular scene because he needed an extra person to fill the frame … He threw me in front of the camera in a particular scene he thought needed an extra person and I got bitten by the bug from then.”

That was the beginning of a career that he would come to love and be known for.

His roles in a number of blockbuster movies, including ‘The Wedding Party 1 & 2’, ‘Black November’, ‘Cold Feet’, among many others, have fetched the actor recognition and awards both within and outside the country.

This recognition, nonetheless, Nwigwe does not rest on his oars and continues to hone his craft, putting the hard work that is required into each of his roles.

Growing Up

Named Hottest Nollywood Actor of the Year in 2017, the 38-year-old graduate of Economics grew up in a home filled with love, where he had all he needed, not necessarily all he wanted.

“When I think about my growing up days, I am not one of those that are quick to remember any suffering of any sort or anything I would like to change,” the ardent lover of sports, particularly tennis, reminisces about his childhood with some nostalgia.

The actor, who is crazy about family, reveals that his parents were open to him pursuing his interests and expressing himself.

“When I first started showing interest in entertainment while I was in the university studying Economics, I wasn’t met with any kind of resistance that you would expect of an average Nigerian parent,” he further says.

The actor lists Kenneth Okonkwo, aka ‘Andy’ in ‘Living in Bondage’, the sequel of which he would later have a role in, as one of the actors he admired at the age of seven and might have influenced his decision to act.

Wearing Many Hats

Entrepreneurship is another thing Nwigwe is passionate about.

If he was not acting, he maintains, he would be a businessman. Still, he finds a way to put his entrepreneurship skills to good use even now as an actor.

“I’m currently working on how best I can tie my entrepreneurial side to my art side to the business side of film, as well as a producer,” the actor whose ultimate goal is to “be a model for young people” says in this interview.

Film producing is one more feather in the actor’s cap and he hopes to become well-rounded in all three sides – acting, entrepreneurship and producing – as time goes on.

“I have training for producing. So, I’m gradually merging the actor side with the producer side and with the business side,” he affirms with glowing pride.

You love this fine actor, and so do we. Here, find three things you probably did not know about him that might make you love him even more.
